Necessary Entrepreneurial Skills for Success
Posted by admin in Entrepreneurial on December 19, 2011
Over the past 10 years I have studied successful entrepreneurs and what it takes to be one. This passion has helped me to do many things that I, and many others believed was not possible for myself. When it really boils down to it the skills are really simple and basic. However, keeping a commitment to these skills is where the challenge lies.
The first skill is to learn how to set goals. Now you must LEARN how to set goals…there is a process of learning how to and committing to these goals. Most people see a goal as a resolution they set on New Years and 30 days later it is dust with the wind. The best way to set a goal and following through leads us to the next step.
Find a mentor. Specifically a mentor that has walked the path that you are choosing to walk. This will set you up with a leader that knows how to set goals and a leader that can save you a ton of time, money, and stress. A great leader must first learn to be a great follower. Even the best of the best have leaders that they follow. Find a mentor.
Here is a major entrepreneurial skill that successful business people have acquired that most others have not. “Keep the main thing, the main thing.” Michael Gerber. Once your start a goal or a business, commit to it until it is successful. The world we rearrange itself for a person that follows through with a commitment. A person that does not follow through with a commitment must rearrange himself with the world. Read the rest of this entry »
Critical Entrepreneurial Traits Necessary In Business Management
Posted by admin in Entrepreneurial on December 10, 2011
To begin in business management, one will be required to set clear and specific objectives and goals. It is very easy to achieve objectives and goals that are focused and distinctive. Furthermore, this will help save on time while still realizing good results. It is therefore important for people to design their strategies to realize their objectives. This is also where organizational skills come in handy, especially when planning what to do on each day so that there is clear focus on each task.
It is also important for people to align themselves and their individual objectives and goals with that of the company and pay special attention until every duty is accomplished. The more time one spends on bettering a skill, the lesser the time necessary to accomplish a task.
Setting objectives and goals is important because it also helps in creating a way to gauge performance and track achievements. The objectives and goals can be challenging but they are very achievable. Therefore, one needs to be innovative and creative in order to accomplish the strategic objectives and specific goals set up in this plan.
A good business manager is required to create their company’s vision statement and mission. At the same time, they will have to find solutions on how best to implement or achieve them. It is important to outline performance targets and strategies to avoid acting in different directions with no specific purpose.
Defining the methods and passion the company is using to excel as this will strengthen competitiveness in your specific sector. Furthermore, it is important to set up long term goals which usually determine the company’s position in the long term. Also mark out the path to achieve this. Read the rest of this entry »
Entrepreneurial Success – Seven Qualities That Matter Most
Posted by admin in Entrepreneurial on December 5, 2011
The new-found interest in Entrepreneurship, as a result of the President’s focus job creation through small business and Start-up America has organizations scurrying around in an attempt to define the ideal qualities of a successful Entrepreneur. Talking with and studying thousands of Entrepreneurs over a 30 year period has given me, I feel, a unique insight into the personal attributes that distance successful Entrepreneurs from others. Here are some of those observations. You may want to compare these traits with your perceived strengths if you are considering an Entrepreneurial venture.
Successful Entrepreneurs, I have observed, have:
A Crystal Clear Picture of where they want to go – Successful Entrepreneurs, I have known, knew where they wanted to go and what would most likely get them there.
A keen sense of Direction – They know where they are going and how they are likely to get there.
A Passion for what they believe will get them there – For successful Entrepreneurs, there is no giving up, no quitting, and almost no rest until the objective is reached.
An Affinity for Risk-Taking – Most successful Entrepreneurs, I know, do not seem to feel they have anything to lose, but everything to gain. So, they push the envelope all the time, every day.
Knowledge that is not limited by themselves – Entrepreneurial success is usually beyond one person and requires input and contribution from others. As a result, they have powerful knowledge networks. They know people who know what they don’t.
The ability to Inspire others – Most business efforts require more than one person. Not everyone has the skill set of the leader but all can be inspired to be the best they can and Entrepreneurs I have known seem to be able to do that better than most.
A perpetual Commitment to become better – I have never known a successful Entrepreneur that did not have an unusually strong commitment to getting better. Someone once said; If you are not getting better, on the inside, as fast as things are changing on the outside, the end of the race is in site and you are not the lead dog.
